Dare to Design

Dress Design for Shabby Apple Dresses

I have always loved fashion and shopping (even if window shopping is all that my budget can afford at times). One of the online clothing stores that I LOVE is Shabby Apple. They have very stylish, beautiful dresses and all of them are MODEST, which is a hard combination to come by these days. While visiting the Shabby Apple website a few weeks ago I saw that they were having a "Dare to Design" contest. Now I am no designer, but I have always thought it would be fun, so I decided to enter the contest. Below you will see my entries. Go easy folks... I don't have any formal artistic training! These sketches are rough but I think you will get the idea. I have also included some ideas for fabric colors and accessories. I have no idea if I even have a shot at this, but I figure if I am ever going to enter a design contest, this one is a great opportunity because I love Shabby Apple's clothing, I love the values they uphold, and I love that they are inviting novice "designers" like myself to join in the fun. No matter the outcome, I have had a great time getting my creative juices flowing!

DRESS #1

This is my version of an elegant summer dress. The high neck and flower make it fancy and the short sleeves and flowing skirt make it fun to wear in spring or summer. Across the midsection is gathered fabric that angles to the hip and is secured with a flower. I picture this dress in black with a bright colored flower like the one below.

DRESS #2

This dress is simple and sweet. The cream colored sash and green flower create a flattering empire waistline and a beautiful contrast against the chocolate brown dress.

DRESS #3

This dress is a fun combination of summer chic and sophistication. The buttons and sash/belt provide an opportunity for a variety of color combinations. Below are two of my favorites...

Red dress, black/white print sash/belt & black buttons

OR

Blue dress with brown belt/sash or brown dress with a blue belt/sash, coupled with fun specialized buttons like this one.

THANKS FOR LETTING ME SHARE MY IDEAS!!
